Major Powertrain Shifts

Recent leaks from the official 2027 Ford F-150 order guide have shed light on substantial updates for the brand's best-selling pickup. Industry insiders suggest that while a comprehensive redesign of the model was expected, it has been pushed back by a year, largely due to supply chain complications involving Ford’s primary aluminum partner, Novelis.


The most notable change for the 2027 model year is the complete phase-out of the long-standing 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. In its place, Ford is introducing a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 as the new primary baseline engine. While official performance specifications are pending, it is widely anticipated that the new 3.0-liter unit will exceed the outgoing 2.7-liter engine's 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. This new engine will be the standard option for XL models, the STX series, and the base XLT and Lariat trims.


For purists favoring naturally aspirated power, the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 is making a comeback in the premium segment. Previously unavailable since 2024, the 400-hp V8 will return as an option for high-end King Ranch and Platinum configurations.


Expanded Accessibility for Off-Road Trims

Ford is aiming to capture a broader market for its off-road lineup by introducing more cost-effective versions of its popular Raptor and Tremor trucks. By stripping away non-essential luxury features, the company hopes to maintain the rugged mechanical integrity of these models while lowering the entry price for consumers.


  • Ford F-150 Raptor 800A: This new equipment group sits below the high-end 801A, 802A, and Raptor R variants, focusing on core performance without the high-cost interior tech.
  • Ford F-150 Tremor 400A: This base trim retains essential hardware such as the 3.73 electronic-locking rear axle, raised ride height, and specialized off-road shocks, while omitting premium cabin comforts. Additionally, a front axle Torsen limited-slip differential will now be available as a standalone upgrade for the Tremor platform.

Streamlined Configurations and Aesthetic Updates

Ford is significantly simplifying the ordering process for mainstream trims, likely to improve production efficiency. The XLT series has moved to a more concise three-tier structure (300A, 301A, and 302A), with the 302A Mid package now receiving a broader range of standard technology, including the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 suite.


The STX series is also seeing adjustments, with certain appearance packages being phased out in favor of greater flexibility for the FX4 Off-Road package. Visually, the F-150 will feature a refreshed color palette. The manufacturer is retiring three shades—Antimatter Blue Metallic, Argon Blue Metallic, and Avalanche—and introducing three new options: Birch Sand, Neptune Blue, and Wild Green.


As the order guides reach dealerships, customers can expect the order banks for the 2027 Ford F-150 to open in late autumn 2026. Official pricing and final performance metrics from the manufacturer are expected to be announced in the near future.
