A New Force in the Supersport Segment

ZXMoto, a relatively new manufacturer established by industry veteran Zhang Xue—the founder of Kove—is making significant waves in the motorcycle industry. While the company shares DNA with Kove, ZXMoto is specifically targeting the competitive supersport market. Their latest offering, the 820RR-R, has officially arrived in Chinese dealerships, bringing with it a pedigree that has already seen success on the world stage.

The platform underpinning this new model has proven its mettle in the World Supersport Championship, contributing to six race victories and a strong standing in the overall title hunt. With the road-going version now hitting the market, established players in the industry may need to take notice of this newcomer's impressive technical capabilities.

Power and Performance Metrics

Positioned between the entry-level 820RR and the high-end 820RR-SP, the 820RR-R boasts a performance profile that rivals top-tier machines. At its heart lies an 819cc three-cylinder engine, upgraded with titanium valves and a heightened compression ratio. The manufacturer claims this setup delivers:

  • Power Output: 145 hp at 13,500 rpm
  • Peak Torque: Approximately 61 lb-ft at 10,000 rpm
  • Weight: A competitive 410 lbs (kerb weight)

Premium Components and Track-Ready Adjustability

ZXMoto has equipped the 820RR-R with high-end hardware typically reserved for more expensive machines. Braking duties are handled by Brembo M50 calipers paired with a Brembo master cylinder and dual 330 mm discs. Handling is managed by an adjustable KYB suspension system featuring diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated fork internals, mounted to a sophisticated aluminum perimeter frame.

The bike is designed with the track enthusiast in mind, offering an extensive range of adjustments, including:

«The machine features adjustable rake, ride height, swingarm pivot point, and rearsets, placing the 820RR-R at the sharpest end of the production supersport class regarding track-focused customization.»

Advanced Tech Suite

Beyond its mechanical prowess, the 820RR-R is packed with modern rider aids. The electronics package is governed by a 6-axis IMU, enabling features such as cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, launch control, and wheelie control. Riders also get engine brake adjustment and a bi-directional quickshifter.

For convenience and daily utility, the motorcycle includes cruise control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and keyless ignition. All data is managed through a 6.2-inch Android-powered TFT display.

Market Outlook

Currently, the ZXMoto 820RR-R is available in China with an approximate price tag of $9,100. While there is no official confirmation regarding its release in Western markets, its aggressive pricing and high-end specifications suggest that, should it arrive stateside, it would be a formidable competitor against established supersport models, even with the inevitable price adjustment for international markets.
