Following in the footsteps of brands like BMW M and Mercedes-AMG, Rivian has officially announced its own performance division: the Rivian Adventure Department (RAD). Launched publicly, this team formalizes the company's long-standing, behind-the-scenes work on high-performance and adventure-focused electric vehicles.

The division, internally called "RAD," is staffed with engineers and designers dedicated to pushing Rivian's capabilities. It emerged from prototype adventures like the Long Way Up and is credited with prior successes such as the Rebelle Rally victory and Pikes Peak records.

A key product of this effort is the RAD Tuner, a sophisticated drive mode selector for quad-motor R1T and R1S models that allows fine-tuning of power, torque, and stability systems. While Rivian hasn't confirmed future RAD-badged models, the move signals a focused push to cultivate enthusiast loyalty, similar to other legendary performance divisions.
