A New Approach to Resort Mobility

Portugal-based startup Amble is carving out a unique niche in the EV market. Rather than competing with traditional road vehicles, the company has developed the Amble One—a quirky, electric buggy designed specifically for off-road resort environments. With a design reminiscent of the iconic Mini Moke, it emphasizes a laid-back, scenic travel experience over raw power.

Designed for the Leisurely Pace

Unlike aggressive, high-tech off-roaders like the Cybertruck, the Amble One focuses on openness and accessibility. Featuring a minimalist design without doors and a friendly aesthetic, it aims to reconnect passengers with their surroundings. According to the company, the vehicle is intended for environments where traditional cars are prohibited or impractical.

"The vehicle is designed to be the opposite of the aggressive modern truck, serving as a companion for exploring nature without the noise and intrusion of a combustion engine," notes the development team.

A Collaborative Vision

The project is backed by a powerhouse team, including industry veterans who have worked on the Audi RSQ, the Nio Firefly, and various electric bike ventures. One of the co-founders, José António Uva, draws inspiration from his own 780-hectare estate in southern Portugal, where the need for elegant and quiet guest transportation served as the primary catalyst for the project.

Targeting the Luxury Hospitality Sector

The Amble One is positioned as a premium alternative to standard, purely utilitarian golf carts found at major hotel chains. By turning short-distance resort travel into an engaging activity, Amble aims to enhance the guest experience. Potential use cases include:

  • Transporting guests across sprawling coastal luxury estates.
  • Navigating pedestrian-only streets in historic European villages.
  • Cruising along scenic beach paths where motor vehicles are restricted.

Performance and Availability

While official specifications regarding top speed and battery range remain under wraps, speed is clearly not the objective. Instead, the vehicle is being built for efficiency and reliability in a resort setting. Amble has reported significant interest from luxury hospitality groups and plans to begin initial deliveries next year, with expanded production capacity scheduled for 2028.
