After a strategic pause in production to reshape its corporate identity, the British automaker has officially unveiled the 2028 Jaguar Type 01. This all-electric four-door grand tourer marks the beginning of a fresh era, positioning the brand to compete directly at the pinnacle of the luxury automotive market.


Performance and Powertrain

Engineered on the innovative Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), the Type 01 is a powerhouse. Its tri-motor setup—comprising two rear motors and one at the front—delivers an impressive 1,015 horsepower and 1,007 lb-ft of torque. This configuration allows for a 0-60 mph sprint in just 3 seconds. To handle such performance, the vehicle comes standard with air suspension and all-wheel steering.

The car is powered by a 118-kWh battery pack utilizing advanced prismatic cells. Jaguar estimates a range of up to 400 miles on a single charge. Thanks to an 850-volt electrical system, the Type 01 supports ultra-fast charging, capable of adding 200 miles of range in roughly 13 minutes.


Striking Design and Minimalist Philosophy

The most debated aspect of the Type 01 is undoubtedly its exterior. Breaking away from typical EV proportions, it embraces a long-hood design with cab-rearward styling. Notable features include:

  • An absence of a traditional rear windshield.

Inside, the cabin prioritizes a furniture-inspired layout with four seats upholstered in recycled textiles. A massive 24-inch OLED display serves as the central hub for the new infotainment system, complemented by an AI-powered assistant. Passengers in both rows also benefit from dedicated 7-inch touchscreens for climate and media control. Audiophiles will appreciate the standard 38-speaker Meridian sound system, which integrates speakers into headrests and the dashboard.
