A Nationwide Initiative for Aspiring Riders
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) has announced its upcoming "Super RIDE Day Weekend," scheduled for May 29–31. This nationwide initiative aims to introduce individuals interested in motorcycling to the fundamental aspects of the sport, focusing on professional coaching, proper safety gear, and the importance of using correctly sized motorcycles for training.
Currently, over 40 training facilities spanning 23 states have signed on to host these events, with more locations expected to join the effort as the date approaches.
Professional Guidance in a Controlled Environment
The RIDE Day program is designed to provide a structured, safe introduction to motorcycling. Participants work directly with MSF-certified RiderCoaches on specialized ranges. Since the program's inception in 2022, nearly 5,000 individuals have taken advantage of this opportunity across 199 events in 29 states.
Corey Eastman, Director of Rider Education Expansion at MSF, highlighted the importance of these events:
"RIDE Days create a clear and accessible starting point for people interested in riding. They connect new riders with local training locations, so they know where to go when they decide they want to learn to ride. Since RIDE Days were so popular, we decided to launch Super Weekend to give people across the country the opportunity to participate."
Removing Barriers to Entry
According to MSF survey data, these events serve as a vital stepping stone, with 50% of participants subsequently enrolling in the MSF Basic RiderCourse to obtain their motorcycle license.
The foundation identified that many aspiring riders have been held back by logistical challenges. Eastman noted:
"We have also learned from past events that RIDE Day participants have wanted to try riding for a long time, with 41% stating they have wanted to try riding for ‘As long as I can remember.’ When asked what has stopped them in the past, 73% said ‘Access to a motorcycle, gear, space, and a knowledgeable person to guide them’ has been the major obstacle. MSF Super RIDE Day Weekend helps remove those obstacles."
