A Dynamic Start to the Season

Intermot 2027 is set to take place in Cologne, Germany, from February 19 to 21. Organizers Koelnmesse and the Industrie-Verband Motorrad Deutschland e. V. (IVM) have announced a major shift in strategy, aiming to kickstart the motorcycle season earlier in the year with a larger venue and a more immersive experience for enthusiasts.

The PLAYGROUND: Indoor Action and Testing

At the center of the redesigned event is a state-of-the-art indoor test track. Spanning approximately 500 meters, the circuit features a specialized surface designed for maximum grip, allowing attendees to trial 2027 model-year motorcycles. The organizers anticipate capacity for over 1,000 test rides daily, with safety gear, including helmets and gloves, provided on-site. Adjacent to the track, the 'PLAYGROUND' zone will host manufacturer demonstrations and stunt shows to maintain a high-energy atmosphere.

Adventure, Heritage, and Racing

The show will dedicate significant space to the spirit of exploration through its 'Adventure Travel' section. This area will showcase the latest adventure bikes, touring apparel, and travel accessories. Furthermore, a dedicated exhibition will honor the intersection of motorcycle history and racing. Highlighting '100 Years of Nürburgring Nordschleife,' the event will connect vintage classics with contemporary racing machines from series such as MotoGP, Motocross, and the Dakar Rally.

Focusing on Innovation and Urban Mobility

The 'Innovation Walk' will serve as a hub for future-oriented technology, featuring exhibits on:

  • Advanced engine technologies, including electric and hybrid powertrains.
  • Safety-focused developments in protective gear and helmets.
  • Driver assistance systems and ergonomic improvements like comfort clutches.

Complementing this is the Urban Mobility area, which focuses on the role of motorcycles in modern city infrastructure, emphasizing resource efficiency and traffic flow management.

Investing in the Next Generation

Through the #motorradazubi initiative, the event is heavily investing in the future of the industry. The program offers career counseling for those interested in becoming two-wheel mechatronics engineers, featuring insights from vocational schools, the labor agency, and trade organizations. To encourage younger participation, the event has confirmed that admission will be free for children and youths up to the age of sixteen.
