A Rare Opportunity for Collectors

Few vehicles capture the essence of the 1980s as effectively as a red Ferrari Testarossa. Among these, the early production models—distinguished by their iconic single side mirror—are particularly sought after. Broad Arrow Auctions is set to offer a pristine 1985 Ferrari Testarossa Monospecchio as part of its upcoming Global Icons: Zoute Online sale, concluding on October 14, 2026. Experts estimate the vehicle will fetch between €135,000 and €165,000.

History and Provenance

Originally delivered in France in May 1985 through the official importer, Charles Pozzi, this classic sports car sports the quintessential Rosso Corsa exterior matched with a sleek Nero leather interior. It retains its early-production technical features, including the unique high-mounted single door mirror and the rare "Monodado" center-lock wheels, which Ferrari later phased out in 1988.

The Musical Connection

The car’s first owner was the acclaimed composer and music producer Count Paul de Senneville. Known for his collaborations with French icons such as Dalida, Michel Polnareff, and Claude François throughout the 70s and 80s, de Senneville brought a level of flair to the vehicle that perfectly mirrored the vibrant spirit of the era. Remarkably, the vehicle has been held within a single family since 2002, a level of provenance rarely seen in modern collector car markets.

Performance and Maintenance

When it debuted at the 1984 Paris Motor Show, the Testarossa was positioned as a powerhouse successor to the 512 BBi. Equipped with a potent flat-12 engine producing 390 CV, it boasted a top speed of 290 km/h, securing its status as one of the fastest production cars of its time.

Currently showing 84,983 km, the car comes with its original factory documentation and service records. Notably, the vehicle has received significant attention from the Paris-based specialist Fiorano Racing, with over €25,000 invested in its maintenance over the last six years. While the timing belts were replaced in 2021, the auction house notes that the next owner should factor in a future belt service.

Auction Details

Prospective bidders may view the vehicle in Waregem, Belgium, by appointment during specific windows leading up to the auction close. The purchase includes the car's French Certificat d'Immatriculation, with a buyer's premium of 10 percent plus VAT applied to the final hammer price.
