The Arrival of the Genesis Magma Line

Genesis has officially introduced its debut performance-oriented vehicle, the 2027 GV60 Magma. Priced at $71,495 (including destination charges), this electric crossover marks the luxury brand's aggressive entry into the high-performance segment, directly challenging established German rivals like BMW M and Mercedes-AMG.

Power and Performance Specs

The GV60 Magma is engineered to provide a thrilling driving experience. At its core, the vehicle utilizes a dual-motor configuration that generates 600 horsepower under normal driving conditions. However, when the dedicated Boost Mode is activated, output climbs to an impressive 641 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. This setup allows the crossover to sprint from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds.

Driver Engagement and Track Technology

To distinguish itself, Genesis has integrated several advanced features designed to mimic the visceral feel of a traditional combustion engine car:

  • Virtual Transmission: This system simulates the sensation of shifting gears, providing physical jolts that enhance engagement during spirited driving.
  • Electronic Limited-Slip Differential: Improves vehicle handling and stability during high-speed cornering and extreme maneuvers.
  • Drift Mode: Allows drivers to easily initiate and control power slides.
  • e-ASD+ System: Uses external speakers to project specialized driving soundscapes, including exclusive audio profiles inspired by the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Design and Interior Enhancements

The Magma trim is distinguished by aggressive aerodynamic styling. Exterior upgrades include bumper canards, specialized fender vents, a unique rear spoiler, and exclusive 21-inch wheels. The interior emphasizes performance, featuring the brand's first dedicated bucket seats, bespoke alloy pedals, and a custom steering wheel equipped with quick-access buttons for Boost and Magma modes.

Charging and Availability

The vehicle is equipped with an 84-kWh battery pack supported by 800-volt charging architecture. This system allows the battery to replenish from 10% to 80% capacity in roughly 20 minutes. While official EPA range figures are forthcoming, performance is expected to align with other high-performance platforms within the Hyundai Motor Group. The 2027 Genesis GV60 Magma is scheduled to reach select retailers in California, New Jersey, and New York in the near future.
