Aston Martin has ended its five-year stint as an F1 safety car provider. Coincidentally, a dealer has listed one of its Vantage safety cars for sale. This specific car is historically significant, having served during the title-deciding and highly controversial 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The 2018 Vantage F1 Edition is priced at £599,990. Despite its 500+ horsepower V8, F1 drivers often criticized it as too slow for safety car duties. It will be replaced by a newer, more powerful model for the 2025 season.
The car's listing notes it was used in the "controversial deployment" that saw Max Verstappen win the 2021 championship on the final lap. The vehicle itself played no role in the race director's contentious decisions, but it remains a tangible piece of one of F1's most memorable and debated finales.
