Honda CR-V Claims Market Lead

As of mid-2026, the Honda CR-V has emerged as the best-selling light-duty vehicle in the United States. According to data from GlobalData, the model reached 226,114 total sales during the first half of the year. This performance puts the CR-V ahead of the Ford F-150, which recorded 209,311 units, and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, with 194,807 units. The Toyota RAV4, historically a top performer, fell to fourth place with 153,955 sales, hampered by significant supply chain obstacles and a model year transition.

Industry experts note that the F-150 has faced production constraints due to aluminum supply issues since last autumn. Concurrently, the RAV4’s drop in volume is attributed to the complex shift to its sixth generation, which disrupted production lines in both Japan and North America.

«Honda has utilized a precise market strategy, offering steadier incentives compared to the volatility seen in 2025. On average, CR-V buyers saw deeper discounts relative to the sticker price than those opting for the Toyota RAV4 during the second quarter.»

Nissan Aims to Overhaul Brand Image

Nissan is actively working to move away from its long-standing reputation as a brand reliant on low-cost rental car volume. CEO Ivan Espinosa emphasized that the company’s priority has shifted toward sustainable, healthy growth rather than aggressive pursuit of market share. Although the brand saw a sales increase in the second quarter, Espinosa stressed the need to improve vehicle perception and quality, noting that the company is reducing its global manufacturing footprint to streamline operations and cut costs.

Stellantis Records Quarterly Sales Growth

Despite various market challenges, Stellantis reported a 6% increase in U.S. sales for the second quarter of 2026, marking its fourth consecutive quarter of growth. The positive momentum was largely driven by the Ram brand, which saw sales climb 14%, and the Chrysler Pacifica, which experienced an 81% surge in volume. While some segments, such as Jeep and Alfa Romeo, saw fluctuations, the company’s overall performance remains resilient as it prepares to introduce new models, including the revived Ram 1500 SRT TRX.

Ford Issues Major Recalls

Ford Motor Company has initiated two significant recall campaigns impacting approximately 780,000 vehicles. The primary action involves over 741,000 units—including various Lincoln Navigator, Ford Expedition, Explorer, Aviator, and F-150 models—due to a transmission defect that may prevent the vehicle from remaining in 'park'. The second recall affects 36,046 Bronco models, specifically addressing concerns that fender flares could detach while the vehicle is in motion. Owners are advised to consult local dealerships for free repairs.
