Safety Alert: Immediate Action Required for Certain Ford Owners

Ford Motor Company has officially issued a critical 'Do-Not-Drive' order impacting approximately 5,000 vehicles. The recall specifically targets certain units of the Bronco Sport and Maverick models due to a safety defect involving the front lower control arm ball joints.

Details of the Manufacturing Defect

According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects 4,653 vehicles, spanning the 2021-2026 model years for the Bronco Sport and 2022-2026 for the Maverick pickup. The concern stems from a potential improper installation or repair of the front lower control arm ball joints during the assembly process.

If the component is not properly secured, there is a risk that the control arm could completely detach from the front wheel knuckle while the vehicle is in operation. Regarding the severity of this issue, the NHTSA stated:

«A detached control arm can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.»

Scope of the Recall

The limited number of vehicles involved in this campaign suggests that the issue is isolated to specific batches processed at the assembly plant, rather than a widespread design flaw. Consequently, it is expected that the current list of affected vehicles will not be expanded significantly.

Next Steps for Affected Owners

Ford is strongly urging owners of the impacted vehicles to cease driving them immediately until the necessary repairs are performed. The company has committed to inspecting and, if required, repairing the ball joints at no cost to the customer.

Owners are encouraged to visit the official NHTSA website and input their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to verify if their specific car is part of this urgent safety campaign.
