When the Genesis Neolun concept first debuted at the New York International Auto Show, few believed its striking B-pillarless coach doors would ever transition from a show floor fantasy to a production reality. The prospect of removing the structural center post of a large SUV seemed fundamentally incompatible with modern vehicle safety standards.

However, the reveal of the production-ready Genesis GV90 proves otherwise. By offering five feet of completely unobstructed entry space, the vehicle challenges long-standing perceptions of what a luxury SUV can be.


The Hidden Strength: The 'Neolun Arch Gate'

The primary concern regarding such a design is structural integrity, specifically in the event of a side-impact collision. To solve this, Genesis developed a proprietary system they call the 'Neolun Arch Gate'.

  • Interlocking Architecture: The structural B-pillar is effectively integrated into the doors themselves. Upon closing, high-strength dual steel beams and heavy-duty impact hooks lock directly into the roof and floor sills.
  • Advanced Materials: Engineers meticulously stress-tested various cast iron and aluminum alloys to ensure the door frames could support the heavy, complex motion required for the hinge mechanism.
  • Reinforced Cabin: The interior features a hidden roll cage with a frame 1.5 times thicker than standard passenger vehicles, utilizing racing-inspired structural foam and steel tubing.
  • Innovative Safety: In the unlikely event of a rollover, the GV90 introduces the world’s first roof-mounted airbag, which spans the panoramic glass ceiling, acting as part of a 12-airbag safety suite.

Luxury Without Compromise

For Genesis, this engineering marvel is intended to redefine the luxury cabin experience. By utilizing motorized front seats that swivel 180 degrees to face the rear, the vehicle transforms into a mobile lounge, complete with radiant-heated hardwood floors.

The lineup will feature multiple configurations, including a premium 4-seat "Executive Suite" with integrated refrigeration and deployable work tables. While standard door configurations will also be available, the brand maintains that these specific coach doors are currently exclusive to the flagship GV90.


An All-Electric Future with a Premium Price

Genesis has confirmed that the GV90 will be built exclusively on its new eMP electric platform. There are no plans to introduce internal combustion or hybrid powertrains. The vehicle is powered by a 124-kWh battery pack, targeting an estimated range of 310 miles.

With an expected starting price of approximately $100,000, and top-tier "Executive Suite" trims projected to reach between $150,000 and $250,000, the GV90 aims to capture an ultra-exclusive niche. As the market anticipates the US release around 2028, the shift toward a strictly electric flagship highlights the brand's commitment to high-end, future-forward motoring.
