A Fresh Design Identity
While the Bentley Flying Spur has long shared its DNA with the Continental GT and GTC, the four-door sedan had maintained a distinct visual identity—until now. Bentley has officially pulled the covers off its updated Flying Spur, which aligns the model's aesthetics with the latest generation of its two-door siblings. This facelift arrives alongside a shift toward plug-in hybrid technology, marking a new chapter for the Crewe-based automaker.
The most striking change is found at the front fascia. For the first time in 64 years, a four-door Bentley features a single-lamp headlight design. This transition, combined with an updated lower bumper, revised taillights, and a reshaped trunk lid, gives the sedan a more cohesive and aggressive stance that mirrors the refreshed Continental lineup.
The Return of the Performance-Oriented S Model
For enthusiasts who value dynamic handling alongside luxury, the most significant update is the reintroduction of the Flying Spur S. This trim level acts as a middle ground in the hierarchy, blending the substantial 671-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain found in the base model with the sophisticated performance hardware previously reserved for the Speed variant.
The S model is engineered to be a driver’s car, featuring:
- An electronic limited-slip differential.
- Performance Active Chassis technology.
- A 48-volt active anti-roll system.
- Twin-valve dampers for precise control.
- Torque-vectoring all-wheel drive.
According to Bentley, this configuration allows the sedan to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 191 mph.
Enhanced Luxury and Customization
As expected from a brand synonymous with bespoke craftsmanship, the updated Flying Spur offers expanded personalization options. Audiophiles can opt for a high-end 21-speaker Naim stereo system, which incorporates acoustic advancements developed for the exclusive Batur grand tourer. Interior and exterior personalization has also been elevated with five distinct seating configurations, a sophisticated new “Dark Teal” exterior finish, and unique “Champagne Gold” detailing available across various themed packages.
Availability and Market Outlook
Bentley has opened order books for the updated Flying Spur immediately, with full-scale production scheduled to commence in September. While official pricing details remain under wraps, the industry anticipates a starting price approaching the $250,000 threshold, positioning it as one of the most premium offerings in the luxury segment.
