Departing from the platform of its combustion-engine predecessor, this new model is built upon the 800-volt MB.EA architecture, mirroring the foundation of the GLC crossover. The electric C-Class features a distinct aesthetic, characterized by a bold front end and a unique smoked glass grille, which can be illuminated with over 1,000 individual light elements. The AI Dilemma
Despite its luxurious amenities, the new MBUX Virtual Assistant presents a significant challenge. During testing, the system proved prone to unwanted interruptions. The AI, designed to be helpful, frequently misinterprets private conversations or song lyrics as signs of emotional distress, inserting itself into the driver's environment with unsolicited, clinical advice. While Mercedes offers a degree of customization for the interface, the assistant's tendency to "barge in" on conversations remains a frustration. As one tester noted, the system appears to prioritize being overly vigilant at the expense of natural human interaction within the cabin.
